Prayer Before Surgery
Facing an operation, your own or a loved one's, can be frightening. This is a prayer before surgery, for peace, for the hands that will do the work, and for healing.
Merciful God, as this surgery approaches, I place myself into Your hands. Calm the fear within me and fill me with Your peace. Guide the hands of the surgeons and all who care for me; give them skill, focus, and wisdom. Watch over every moment I cannot see, and let Your healing begin even now. Comfort those who love me and wait for news. Whatever the road to recovery holds, walk it with me. I trust that I am never beyond Your care, and that underneath me are Your everlasting arms. Into Your keeping I surrender myself. Amen.
